Founded by certified public accountant and certified financial planner David Wilson, Grey Dog Consulting delivers proactive advice and responsive service to entrepreneurs and executives around the country.
We deliver services in four core areas: planning, consulting, taxes, and financial operations. The firm has deep experience in multiple industry sectors, including real estate development, life sciences, professional services, manufacturing, and agribusiness.
As with our namesake, man’s best friend, Grey Dog thrives on building loyal relationships on a foundation of strategies that promote both business growth and compliance, while always reducing client stress. Our planning and consulting services empower clients to take control and shape their corporate destinies, while our tax and business operations services allow them to focus on other aspects of day-to-day management.
Our Founder
David P. Wilson, CPA, CFP
David Wilson, founder of Grey Dog Consulting, is a certified public accountant and certified financial planner based in Hillsborough, North Carolina. Known for his drive, passion, and problem-solving skills, David brings a wide array of industry experience to Grey Dog’s core areas of service: planning, consulting, taxes, and financial operations.
David began his career with several years in banking and financial services, as a consumer banker and investment advisor at the former Central Carolina Bank and Coastal Federal Credit Union. Inspired to make a mid-career switch to pursue his passion for accounting, David began his career as a CPA and senior tax accountant at the High Point office of Dixon Hughes. After a stint as a business tax consultant at the Chapel Hill firm of Blackman & Sloop, he returned to Dixon Hughes to serve as tax manager for the firm’s Raleigh office.
In addition to his role at Grey Dog, David serves as Chief Financial Officer and Controller of Garden View Realty of Durham.
David Wilson holds a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Asheville and a master of science degree in accounting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Outside of his professional obligations, David has served multiple organizations with his financial expertise, including a pair of terms on the Board of Directors of the Chapel Hill Rape Crisis Center.
David, his wife Melanie, and their two daughters reside in Orange County, along with their two Weimaraners, Otto and Leisl.
